Forest Paths

"The woods are lovely, dark, and deep."*

Forest paths are probably my favourite photographic subject. I'm not sure which came first, my love of photographing paths among the trees, or my love of walking in the woods. Everywhere I go, I try to find a forest to explore - easy to do where I live in the Pacific Northwest, a bit more challenging in a place like Iceland where I didn't get a single good picture of a forest path. Though I did wander a bit in the woods at Ásbyrgi.

Below are my personal favourites of the many forest path pictures I have taken. Looking at them again, each of them evokes a mood, a moment, a memory. I remember the smell of wet earth, of moss, of leaves, that special blend of scents that just screams "forest!" Go on, choose a path and get a little bit lost with me.
